Precision Walls for Tight Spaces

Located in the heart of Hayward, Fusion is a thoughtfully designed community of 55 townhomes, including nine innovative live/work lofts, bringing much-needed accessible housing to Mission Boulevard. This Homes Built for America development repurposes two former commercial sites to offer close proximity to Moreau Catholic High School, South Hayward BART, CSU East Bay, and several parks and trails.

CalWalls contributed vital infrastructure to this complex project, constructing 9,600 square feet of retaining and bioswale walls to provide construction site stability and stormwater management. Our team expertly managed site preparations, facing challenging soil conditions, navigating exceptionally tight clearance due to property lines, and ensuring zero impact on multiple buildings nearby.

To address soil and minimal access challenges, CalWalls utilized innovative GS2 Block with helical barrel foundations for stability, efficiency, and overall cost-effectiveness. Large, eight-foot bioswale walls, now largely covered by biofilter materials, perform additional aesthetic roles, visually appearing as 2-foot-high planters and a supportive base for fencing planned in the future.

Our advanced, custom retaining wall system provides optimal stability, comprehensive water management, and foundational support for Fusion’s vibrant and sustainable community design. This project underscores CalWalls’ commitment to creating quality, sustainable infrastructure that supports community needs.
